Personal: The 2006-07 season marks Simmons' second year as a member of the WSSU men's track and field team where he will compete in the intermediate hurdles and jump events. A native of Summerfield, NC, he is a 2003 graduate of William A. Raines High School where he was the "Best Newcomer" award winner. A member of the track and field team, he also played basketball for the Vikings for two seasons. The son of Charles Starshills and Theresa Thompson, he is a Computer Science major at WSSU. Born in Jacksonville, FL on September 29, 1984, Simmons is nicknamed "De-Low".
