Rams, Lady Rams Open 2007 With Strong Outing At Father Diamond Invitational - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

FAIRFAX, VA - The Winston-Salem State indoor track & field teams got the New Year started right with a solid effort at the Father Diamond Invitational indoor track meet, Saturday afternoon. Sophomore sprinter Gerrod Sidbury helped bring home a pair of first place finishes for the Rams winning both the 400m dash and helping the men's 4x400m relay team bring home a first place finish as well.

Sidbury won the 400m dash with a time of 50.05 to finish first in the event, while running the second leg of the relay team that turned in a time of 3:22.08. Not to be outdone, sophomore Nathan Summerville topped the field in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.98m to take first place as well. Fellow sophomore Richard Marcellus finished third in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.70 in the event. Marcellus also finished fifth in the men's 60m dash with a time of 7.04.

The Lady Rams also had a strong day producing a pair of top ten finishes as well with sophomore Wykietha Barnett finishing fourth in the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.74 in the event. Junior Irene Jeptolo finished sixth in the women's 3000m run with a time of 11:27.15.

Both teams will return to action on January 26^th when the Rams and Lady Rams head to Chapel Hill to take part in the UNC Challenge.
