PHILIDELPHIA, PA - It takes more than a bit of rain to slow down the Winston-Salem State track & field relay teams, Friday afternoon. Both Rams and Lady Rams hit the track in relay competition among some of the best teams in the country.
The Rams 4x200m relay team had the best finish of the day for Winston-Salem State placing 25th in the field of 42 teams in a time of 1:28.44. The team of Brock Bynum, Girrod Sidbury, Richard Marcellus, and Brandon Howe posted the time for the Rams, defeating teams from Delaware, Bowie State, and Kentucky State. The team returned to take part in the collegiate men's 4x400m relay as well finishing in a time of 3:17.87. The Rams left behind teams from Maryland-Eastern Shore, East Carolina, Florida International, and Maine.
Individually, Jordan Holley finished ninth in his heat of the men's 400m hurdle championship with a time of 00:57.72.
The Lady Rams relay team took the field no Friday taking part in the collegiate women's 4x200m relay. The team finished 38th overall in a field of 50 teams.
The WSSU athletes will return to action tomorrow in the prestigious meet. Collegiate track events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. Selected events at the meet will be broadcast on ESPN2.
