EMPORIA, KS - Winston-Salem State University's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Gerrod Sidbury (Wilmington, NC), Paul Williams (Winston-Salem, NC), Richard Marcellus (Washington, DC), Jordan Holley (Raleigh, NC) and alternate Corderius Cowans (High Point, NC) narrowly missed qualifying for the finals at the NCAA Division II Men's Track and Field Championship from the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, KS on Saturday afternoon as they turned in a time of 3:14.84.

The Rams' 4x400 meter relay team (consisting of Gerrod Sidbury (Wilmington, NC), Paul Williams (Winston-Salem, NC), Richard Marcellus (Washington, DC), Jordan Holley (Raleigh, NC) and alternate Corderius Cowans (High Point, NC)) earned themselves an eighth place national ranking heading into the championships. They turned in a qualifying time of 3:12.04 at the North Carolina Central University Last Chance Track and Field Invitational on Thursday, May 11, 2006 in Durham, NC, a time that would qualify the Rams for the NCAA Track and Field National Championships and earned the Rams an eighth place ranking nationally in the 4x400 meter relay where they fell just short on Saturday.
The 4x400 meter relay team will continue to train over the summer as they all prepare for the upcoming 2006 cross-country season which begins in August.
