Rams, Lady Rams Ready for Spotlight at Penn Relays

April 27, 2007

PENNSYLVANIA, PN - The Winston-Salem State University track & field teams will line up against some of the best teams in the country when the team takes part in the 113th running of the Penn Relays. Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will become the center of the collegiate track & field world this weekend when some of the top teams in the country head to the event.

The Rams will have a chance to test their ability against the best in the nation as the event will also feature Atlantic Coast Conference champion Florida State as well as Southeastern Conference powers Tennessee and Louisiana State among others. The Rams will take six runners to the event as senior Gerrod Sidbury, sophomores Jordan Holley, Brock Bynum, and Richard Holley will join freshmen Brandon Howe and Sadat Kahin in the event.

Headlining the women's field will be a tough Oregon squad, a power in the PAC-10, the Big XII's Texas, and Michigan of the Big Ten Conference. Junior Gerri-Lena White will join the sophomore quartet of Sandy Harrison, Wykeita Barnett, Vernae McDonald, and Malliron Hodge at the event. Javonna Brown is the sole Lady Ram freshman heading to the event.

The Rams and Lady Rams will begin competition on Friday in the all day event.
