Salisbury, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Cross-Country Teams both placed second at the Livingstone College Cross-Country meet on Wednesday.
The Lady Rams defeated Johnson C. Smith by the score of 49 to 48 and fell to the host Lady Blue Bears by the score of 48 to 23. The Lady Rams had runners place sixth and seventh as Nikki Eason (Jr./5'6"/Greenville, SC) turned in a time of 29:03 to place sixth, and Bobbie Barnes recorded a time only four seconds slower at 29:07 to place seventh.
The men's cross-country team fared in an almost identical manner as WSSU placed ahead of Johnson C. Smith but fell to Livingstone. The Rams recorded 40 points, good enough to best JCSU by 23 points (JCSU tallied 63) but not impressive enough to down the Blue Bears (23 points).
The Rams were paced by Norman Carter (Fr./6'4"/180/Greensboro, NC) who finished fourth in the five mile race with a time of 31:04.
The Rams and Lady Rams return to action on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003 at 3:00 pm when they host Livingstone in Winston-Salem, NC.
