Rams Cross-Country Turns In A Good Showing At UNC-Wilmington Invitational

Sept. 10, 2005

Final Stats

Wilmington, NC - WSSU head cross-country coach Benny Morgan has proven that his team can compete against Division I talent for the second straight weekend as the Rams turned in a sixth-place finish on Saturday morning at the UNC-Wilmington Cross-Country Invitational in Wilmington, NC.

The Rams, who were on the road for the second consecutive weekend, placed sixth overall as they finished behind Georgia State University  (#1), The University of Delaware (#2), Elon University (#3), The University of North Carolina-Wilmington (#4), and East Carolina University (#5) in a cross-county invitational that featured powerhouse Division I talent.

The Rams would see Kenneth Koech turn in WSSU's best finish of the day as he placed 32nd overall with a time of 20:48:31.  The freshman, from Lhein, Kenya would again lead the Rams for the second straight week.

Gregory Watts would again turn in a strong showing as he finished 55th overall with a time of 22:50:15.  The very challenging 6k course would pose difficulty for many of the participating teams, yet Benny Morgan's Rams were able to prove to be one of the more physically conditioned teams en route to their sixth place finish.

Cory Wright of WSSU would turn in the final top-60 finish for the Rams on the day as he finished 60th overall with a time of 23:41:71.

The Rams will return to action on Friday, September 16th, 2005 when they host their lone meet of the season at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC.  Participants and meet time are unannounced as of press time.
