Greensboro, NC - The Winston-Salem State University men's cross country team had a rough day on Saturday afternoon at the 2004 Greensboro Cross-Country Invitational as they ran into some very stiff competition and placed 11th out of 12 teams in the largest North Carolina cross-country event of 2004.
The Rams would finish the event in 11th place overall as they defeated only Bluefield State University after being saddled with 317 points overall.
The top three teams in the invitational were Division I powers Longwood University (1st with 30 points), North Carolina A&T (2nd with 34 points) and Hampton University (third with 64 points).
Despite the 11th place finish, the Rams were one of only two CIAA teams to participate in the event, with Shaw University placing 7th overall with 169 points.
The Rams have now concluded the 2004 CIAA cross-country regular season and will have nearly a month off to train for the upcoming CIAA cross-country championship which will take place in Cary, NC on October 21st, 2004 at 3:00 pm.
