    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (15-13) gave it their all, but the team came up just short in a 62-55 loss to the #16 Shaw Lady Bears (23-4), Wednesday evening at the Time Warner Cable Arena. The game was a tough, defensive battle with neither side willing to concede, but in the end, foul troubles and a tenacious opposing defense ended the season for the Lady Rams.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (15-12) opened the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament with a bang, with a decisive 73-56 win over the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs, Tuesday afternoon at the Time Warner Cable Arena. The Lady Rams took the win behind one of their most impressive efforts of the season when the team shot a scorching hot 48.1% from the field in the game.

    SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (14-12, 9-7 CIAA) ended the regular season in style with a hard-fought 75-63 victory over the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (8-17, 4-12 CIAA). The Lady Rams took the win behind a great effort as they had to dig deep to fend off a scrappy Livingstone team that battled for all 40 minutes of the game.
  • Lady Rams Outlast Johnson C. Smith for 55-45 Victory

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (13-12, 8-7 CIAA) picked up a key Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory on Senior Night when the team took a 55-45 win over the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls (8-16, 5-10 CIAA), Wednesday evening at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. With the win, the Lady Rams ended an eight-year drought against the Lady Golden Bulls as WSSU has not defeated JCSU since the 2005 season.
  • Lady Rams Fade Late in 59-55 Loss to #20 Fayetteville State

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (12-12, 7-7 CIAA) took a tough 59-55 home loss to the #20 Fayetteville State Lady Broncos. After leading for much of the game, the Lady Rams fell victim to a late Lady Bronco surge that snapped the team’s three-game Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division winning streak.

    RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (12-11, 7-6 CIAA) notched their biggest win of the season when the team took a 68-60 win over the #15 Shaw Lady Bears, Wednesday at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. With the win, the Lady Rams record their first victory over a ranked opponent since making its return to NCAA Division II and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as well as giving the team a win over the defending NCAA Division II National Champions.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (11-11, 6-6 CIAA) held off a feisty Saint Augustine’s Lady Falcons (10-11, 6-6 CIAA) for a clutch 58-56 win. With the win, the Lady Rams won their second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division game and begin a climb up the division standings. The Lady Rams took the win behind a stellar effort from the free throw line and some quality defense.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (10-11, 5-6 CIAA) picked up their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division win when the team held off the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (7-13, 3-8 CIAA), Saturday evening. The Lady Rams had to dig deep to get the win as the team staged a second half rally to pick up the victory.
  • Time Runs Out for Lady Rams in 45-42 Loss at Johnson C. Smith

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (9-11, 4-6 CIAA, 0-4 CIAA South) suffered heartbreak once again as the team took another close loss that came down to the wire when the team fell to the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls (7-12, 4-6 CIAA), Wednesday evening. The loss was the fifth in a row for the Lady Rams and the fourth straight loss in the CIAA Southern Division.

Though the Lady Rams mounted a great second-half rally after some first half struggles, but the team could not catch up to the Lady Bears that shot a scorching hot 50% from the field in the game.

    RALEIGH, NC – For the second straight game, the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (9-8, 4-3 CIAA) saw a lead disappear in the final seconds in a 59-57 road loss to the Saint Augustine’s Lady Falcons (8-8, 4-3 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After taking a 57-56 lead with 00:45 left to play, the Lady Rams allowed three unanswered points to the Lady Falcons to take the tough loss. The game was a see-saw battle that saw momentum swing to both ends of the court with 16 lead changes and 13 ties.

The Lady Rams gave a hard-fought effort in the game, but a late collapse that including going scoreless for the final 2:49 minutes of the game, doomed the Lady Rams in the heartbreaking loss.

The win was the third straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) win and improved the team to 4-1 at home. The Lady Rams overcame numerous adversities as well as a tough Virginia State Lady Trojans team that made the game a battle for all 40 minutes.

The Lady Rams took the win after combining a stellar offensive effort with their usual strong defensive play to pick up their second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) win of the season.

Lady Lions (5-7, 1-1 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 1-1 in CIAA play and secured their first road win of the season.

The loss came in spite of a hard-fought battle that saw the Lady Rams and Lady Panthers battle for all 40 minutes of the contest.

With the win, the Lady Rams post back-to-back wins for the first time this season and took their first two wins away from the C.E. Gaines Center.

After trailing the game midway through the second half, the Lady Rams mounted a furious rally in the final minutes of the game to nearly pull out the win, but some clutch free throws by the home team and a missed WSSU three-pointer ended the night for the Lady Rams.

Not only did the Lady Rams get their first win of the season, but WSSU head A.G. Hall began his head coaching career in a big way, leading the team to its first season-opening victory since 2010. Though the team was impressive in the win, the game showed a lot of room for growth for the Lady Rams.
