Matt Acton will return to the Winston-Salem State University women's basketball coaching staff this fall and will continue to be a big part of the development and future success of the Lady Rams program. He joined the WSSU coaching staff last fall after spending seven seasons as an assistant coach at Carson-Newman College.
Acton has been a quality addition to the Lady Rams' squad, working primarily with the team's frontcourt and heavily in the team's recruiting and community service efforts. Under his guidance, the Lady Rams have seen a number of players develop into some of the top athletes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
During his time at Carson-Newman, Acton worked with the team's on-the-court development as well as conditioning and recruiting. A quality recruiter, Acton helped bring 14 All-South Athletic Conference players, four All-South Atlantic Region players, three Academic All-Americans, and two All-Americans to the Lady Eagles program. He was also heavily involved in the team's community service efforts.
Acton is a native of Owensboro, Kentucky.
