Personal: Coach Williams has just completed his fourth season as the head coach of the Lady Rams at Winston-Salem State University. This season he led WSSU to a 10-18 mark. Last season he led WSSU to a 15-15 record overall and a berth (and eventual last-second loss to Elizabeth City State) in the CIAA Tournament semi-finals. In 2003-04, he guided the Lady Rams to a 12-14 overall record and a third place finish in the CIAA West as well as a first-round loss in the CIAA Tournament to Elizabeth City State. In the 2002-03 season he led the Lady Rams to a 16-11 overall record (11-5 CIAA) and a second place regular season finish in the Western Division, ultimately falling to St. Augustine's College in the 2002-03 CIAA semi-finals after receiving a bye in the first round. These three seasons add up to an overall record of 43-40 as the head coach at WSSU. Prior to coming to WSSU, Williams served as Head Men's and Women's Basketball Coach at Wallace Community College in Selma, Alabama for a period of five years. While serving as head coach at WCC he received coach of the year honors twice, during the 1998 season and again in 2000. During the 1995-96 season Williams served as head men's basketball coach at Alabama State University (Division I's SWAC). Coach Williams received his first head coaching job at Savannah State University in 1990 and continued at SSU throughout the 1995 season. In 1987 Coach Williams served as assistant basketball coach at North Carolina A & T State University until leaving in 1990. While serving as assistant coach at NC A&T, he helped guide the Aggies to a 21-0 conference record and an NCAA Tournament berth in 1988. Coach Williams got his first collegiate coaching job at South Carolina State University in 1983, a place in which he stayed until 1987. Williams was a standout player while in both high school and college as he earned multiple athletic awards. He received his B.S. in Business Administration in 1982 from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama and received a M.S. in Education in 1986 from South Carolina State University. A native of Geiger, Alabama, Williams is married to Bianca L. Williams of Inkster, MI a graduate of Michigan State University who received her masters in Education from Alabama State University. He is the father of two children, a son Jared (14), and daughter Jordan (10).
