The Lady Tigers, who showed that they are much improved over last year's team that posted a winless 0-26 record overall, kept the game close in the first half of play despite 14 first-half turnovers. 

WSSU led by only eight points at the half as the Lady Tigers trailed the Lady Rams 32-24 headed into the halftime intermission.

Saint Paul's kept the contest close near the beginning of the second half of play despite John Williams' pressure WSSU defense.

The defense would prove to be too much as the Lady Rams held the Lady Tigers without a point for a stretch of 7:35 in the period as WSSU mounted a 15-0 lead to put the game away for good.

Saint Paul's scoring drought started with 9:52 to play in the contest and would not end until a deep Katrina Wright three-pointer tickled the nets with 2:17 remaining in the game and with the Lady Tigers trailing by 19 points.

Saunders led WSSU with a team-high 11 points as she and teammate Shalonda Carter (10 points) were the only Lady Rams in double-digit scoring. 

WSSU used 30 Saint Paul's College giveaways and turned them into 21 points off of turnovers.

The Lady Tigers were led by Nikki Bowen and her game-high 15 points in the loss.

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 7-11 overall (2-3 CIAA, 1-1 CIAA West) while the Lady Tigers fall to 6-12 overall (1-6 CIAA, 1-1 CIAA East) with the loss.

WSSU returns to action on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 as they travel to Petersburg, VA to face the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University at 5:30 pm.
