Bradford's Career-High 21 Points Leads WSSU Over Bethune-Cookman 56-51

Feb. 4, 2008

Final Stats

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Corbin Bradford's career-high 21 points led the Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team past the visiting Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman by the score of 56-51 on Monday evening at the Joel Coliseum annex as WSSU snapped a four-game losing streak.

The victory, the Lady Rams' first win since January 19, was keyed by Bradford's 21 points, 12 of which came from long range as the freshman guard hit four of her seven attempts from long range.

A contest in which the lead changed hands 11 times and was deadlocked in a tie on a dozen occasions saw both teams hit less than one-third of their field goal attempts as the two teams would head to the locker room at halftime with the score knotted at 30-30.

Second-half action saw the Lady Rams trail for only 18 seconds as they controlled the contest for nearly all of the game's final 20 minutes of play.

WSSU's Vontisha Woods scored seven of her 13 points and pulled down seven of her game-high 10 rebounds in the second half en route to helping lead the Lady Rams to their second win of the season.

Leading by three points with under 10 seconds remaining in the contest, Bradford calmly converted a pair of free throws that sealed the Rams' victory as she surpassed her previous career-high of 20 points.

The win moves Winston-Salem State to 2-16 on the season while the Wildcats fall to 3-17 overall with the loss.

The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm as they tip-off against the Morgan State University Lady Bears in Baltimore, Maryland.
