The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (8-21) ended their first season in NCAA Division I with style defeating the Savannah State Lady Tigers (11-17), 80-60 at the C.E. Gaines Center. The Lady Ram seniors put on a show in their final outing combining for 40 points, 25 rebounds, and nine assists in the win.
The 80-point performance was the team's best offensive performance of the season as the squad posted a season high in points scored and shot their second best field goal percentage of the year as well (.429). Leading the way for the Lady Rams was senior center Shalonda Carter who tied the individual game high for the season with 23 points in the contest. She also pulled in 10 rebounds in the game after missing a lot of practice time recently recovering from an ankle injury suffered in her last outing at Longwood. Sophomore forward Lavontay Johnson added 20 points and six rebounds in the game as well going 8-for-8 from the free throw line as well. Senior guard Latoya Armstrong had one of her best games of the season with 12 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Richea Harris was the fourth WSSU player with 12 points and three assists in the contest.
The Lady Rams controlled the entire contest jumping out with a 10-2 run to start the game and never looking back. A

It was in the second half that the Lady Rams put the game away shooting 44% from the field in the half and taking home the win.
With the win, the Lady Rams finish 2006-07 season with an 8-21 record, including wining three of their last four games.
