CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Sophomore Rashanda McCants scored 16 points to lead five Tar Heels in double figures and No. 2 North Carolina routed Winston-Salem State 83-32 on Sunday.
Freshman Jessica Breland came off the bench for a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Camille Little had 11 points and 12 rebounds for her 11th double-double.
Erlana Larkins added 12 points and Heather Claytor 10 for North Carolina (2-0).
McCants hit her first four shots, including two 3-pointers, and had 10 points in the first half.
Shalonda Carter led Winston-Salem (0-1) with 12 points.
North Carolina led 36-10 at halftime, despite making just 13 of its first 38 shots (34 percent). The Tar Heels were 18-for-34 (53 percent) in the second half and hit 31 of 72 shots from the field for the game.
North Carolina used a 23-0 run that bridged halftime to break open the game and then closed it out with a 23-4 run.
Winston-Salem went scoreless for more than nine minutes before Carter hit a jumper at 2:43 into the second half with the Rams trailing 44-12.
The Lady Rams led 12-11 in rebounding for the first 12 minutes, but North Carolina dominated after that and had a 55-38 rebounding edge.
