After the teams exchanged baskets in the opening minute, the Tigers went on a 20-7 run over a seven-minute span to take a commanding 22-9 lead with 11:38 left in the first half as seven different Towson players recorded baskets.
The Lady Rams rallied to score five straight points to cut the margin to 22-14 before a pair of free throws by sophomore Alis Freeman (Winston Churchill H.S./Potomac, Md.) and a layup by senior Kelly Robinson (Raritan H.S./Hazlet, N.J.) extended the Tiger advantage back to 26-14 with 7:51 remaining in the period.
The Tigers extended their lead to as many as 15 with 2:52 remaining in the first half and led 35-20 at the intermission.
Early in the second half, the Tigers upped their lead to 41-23 with 17:11 remaining before the Rams scored eight points to cut the deficit to 41-31 with 15:21 on a jumper by senior guard Kadina Baldwin (Westover H.S./Fayetteville, N.C.).

The Tigers pushed the advantage to 64-40 with six minutes left on a Mahan layup before the Rams scored five of the next seven points to narrow the margin to 66-45 with 4:02 remaining.
However, the Lady Rams, who were playing their second game in three days, fell short in their bid for a comeback en route to their second loss of the season.
Mahan made 9 of 12 shots from the floor in leading the Tigers to the victory while adding six steals. Baker-Brice, who was honored as the CAA Player of the Week on Monday, scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four assists as the Tigers shot 50.0 per cent from the floor in the victory.
Sophomore forward Lavontay Johnson (E.E. Waddell H.S./Charlotte, N.C.) led the Rams in the loss by scoring 14 points along with adding nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Akebia Williams (Southview H.S./Fayetteville, N.C.) added 11 points and four rebounds for WSSU and Shalonda Carter added nine points and a dozen rebounds as each she and Johnson narrowly missed recording double-doubles on the evening.
The Tigers, a quality team that handed the Georgetown Hoyas a loss in their opening game of the season, improve to 2-0 with the win, while the Lady Rams fall to 0-2 with the loss.
