Player And Coaches Quotes Following WSSU's 85-47 Loss At Auburn University

Nov. 17, 2006

Recap |  Final Stats

WSSU head coach Dee Stokes:

On WSSU's performance...

"We didn't play hard until we fell behind.  We have a lot of room to improve on offense.  It could have been a lot worse.  We need to regroup so that we can go out and get a win on Sunday against Alabama State."

On what Auburn did to give WSSU trouble...

"Their size gave us trouble.  We are a small team.  DeWanna Bonner came back and had a huge game for them.  She has 28 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, all while wearing a mask [to protect her broken nose].  We didn't even know if she was going to play or not.  She is a difference maker for them."

WSSU forward Candace Saunders:

On WSSU's play...

"We could have done a lot better in the first half.  If we started off the same way in which we finished, it would have been a different story."

On Auburn's team...

"They are a big, athletic team with good size.  We knew that they were going to be a really good team, and they were."

WSSU forward Shalonda Carter:

On WSSU's offense...

"We didn't execute on offense very well.  It was OK, but it could have been a lot better."
