Charlotte, NC - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team traveled to Charlotte, NC on Monday evening looking for their sixth straight win, and sixth win overall, as they faced off against the Royals of Queens (N.C.) University. That is exactly what they got as they cruised to an easy victory by the score of 89-52 in front of several hundred spectators.
The Lady Rams, who earn their sixth straight win with the victory, and in the process run their overall record to 6-1 on the season, jumped out to an early double-digit lead and never looked back as they handed the Royals their third loss of the young 2004-05 season.
WSSU, under the guidance of third-year head coach John Williams, is now off to the Lady Rams' best start since the 2000-01 season when WSSU jumped out to a 9-1 start. The Lady Rams' lone blemish this season came in the first game of the year as they fell in defeat to the Lady Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, NC by the score of 77-72.
John Williams and his Lady Rams, who have won four games in the last eight days, will have a 17-day layoff before returning to action on December 15th, 2004 as they will travel to Wingate, NC to take on the Bulldogs of Wingate University in the second of two meetings during the 2004-05 season. WSSU won the first meeting in Winston-Salem, NC on November 23rd, 2004 by the score of 54-44.
