Lady Rams Headed to Baltimore, MD to Face High-Powered Morgan State

Feb. 7, 2008

GAME NOTES

BALTIMORE, MD - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-16) will look to stop one of the top offensive teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference when they take on the Morgan State Lady Bears (11-9). The Lady Rams will have a tough task ahead of them as they take on a Morgan State team that is averaging 67.9 points per game, the second best scoring offense in the MEAC.

The Lady Rams will need a strong effort at both ends of the court as they will need to turn up their offensive efforts with the team averaging 45.5 points per game and they will also need to turn up their defensive efforts as they are allowing 66.1 points per game. Not only will the Lady Rams have to face a tough Morgan State team, they will face them in front of a hostile Hill Field House where the Lady Bears are 4-2 this season and they also lead the MEAC in total steals (275). Though the Lady Bears are a tough team, the Lady Rams will have a chance to score when they face the Lady Bears, who are allowing 65.1 points per game.

Looking to lead the Lady Rams into Saturday's effort will be the scoring backcourt trio of guards Rene Rector, Corbin Bradford, and Nikki Kee. All three players have led the Lady Rams in scoring at least once this season and Kee remains the only member of the trio to not score at least 20 points in a game this season. However, Kee is the team leader in steals (28). Bradford led the Lady Rams with a career-high 21 points in her last outing, while Rector scored a career-high 24 points, leading the Lady Rams to a win over Howard earlier this season.

Across the court, the Lady Rams will look to contain one of the top offensive players in the conference when they face sophomore guard Corin Adams, the third leading scorer in the conference at 17.3 points per game. A member of the 2007 MEAC All-Rookie team, Adams is currently a strong candidate for post-season conference honors. She is joined by the `inside-outside' tandem of freshman guard Brittany Dodson and senior center Britney Griffin. Dodson is currently averaging 8.7 points per game while Griffin leads the team in blocked shots (13) and rebounding (6.8 rpg).

The Lady Rams and Lady Bears are set for a 2:00 p.m. start at the Hill Field House.
