HAMPTON, VA - Winston-Salem State University junior forward Shalonda Carter was named to the 2006 All-CIAA women's basketball team on Tuesday as announced and voted upon by the CIAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CIAA-WBCA).
Carter, a junior forward from Fayetteville, NC is again the Lady Rams' leading scorer with 12.0 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounds per game with 8.5 as she has led the Lady Rams in scoring 15 times in 2005-06 en route to collecting 12 double-doubles which moves her all-time total for double-doubles to 41.
The 2003-04 CIAA Rookie of the Year, she earns All-CIAA honors for the second straight season as she continues to perform at a level that puts her amongst the CIAA's best.
Carter and the Lady Rams will close the regular season tonight versus the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University at the LJVM Coliseum Annex at 5:30 pm in one final tune-up before the 2006 CIAA Women's Basketball Tournament that will start next Monday, February 28, 2006.
