GAME NOTES
ORANGEBURG, SC - Ending the 2007-08 season on a high note will be a "tall order" for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-25) when they head to Orangeburg, SC to take on the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs (12-15), Thursday evening. The Lady Rams, which feature just two players that are at least six feet tall will have to contend with a South Carolina State squad that boasts five players that are at least six feet tall.
The young Lady Rams will be up to the challenge of facing the Lady Bulldogs, however, as their defensive efforts could help to slow down one of the hottest teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Heading into Thursday's game, the Lady Bulldogs had won four of their last six games. Turnovers have been the chink in the South Carolina State armor this season with the Lady Bulldogs placing 11th in the MEAC in turnover margin at -5.26. For the season, the Lady Rams have totaled 176 steals and could put some heat on the Lady Bulldogs. WSSU freshman guard Nikki Kee is the team's leader in steals (39) this season and could put some pressure on the Lady Bulldogs. Also looking to make a difference on the WSSU defensive end is freshman center Nora Campbell, who leads the Lady Rams with 32 blocked shots this season. If she counted in the MEAC statistics, Campbell would be third in the conference in blocked shots this season.

Across the court, the Lady Rams will face a potent South Carolina State offense, however, as the Lady Bulldogs are averaging 63.3 points per game this season, with the inside-outside tandem of sophomore guard Sophillia Hipps and sophomore center Marie Reid leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs. Combined the duo averages 28.4 points per game. Reid is currently the Lady Bulldogs' leading scorer at 14.3 points per game this season. She is currently seventh in the MEAC in scoring while Hipps is not far behind at 14.1 points per game and she is ninth in the conference in scoring.
The Lady Rams and Lady Bulldogs are currently set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of South Carolina State University.
