WSSU Women's Basketball Adds Trevor Lampman To Coaching Staff

July 20, 2006

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State University head women's basketball coach Dee Stokes announced on Wednesday that she has added Trevor Lampman to her coaching staff as an assistant coach.  Lampman, who assumed his coaching duties several weeks ago has already been an integral part in the ongoing Lady Rams' recruiting efforts.

Lampman comes to WSSU by way of High Point University where he has served as an assistant basketball coach and the recruiting coordinator for the Panthers.  Prior to his two seasons at High Point, Lampman used his basketball knowledge as a broadcaster and production assistant for Jefferson Pilot Sports.  He also served as the color commentator for Winthrop University women's basketball radio broadcasts.

Lampman has over eight years of coaching experience as he served as the head girls' basketball coach at Lee Davis High School in Richmond, VA in 2002-03 as well as serving as the head coach of the Carolina Magic AAU 14 and Under girls basketball team in 2001 and 2002 while at the same time serving as the head girls' basketball coach at Sullivan Middle School in Rock Hill, SC.

His coaching experience does not end at the middle school and high school level, Lampman, in addition to his two seasons at High Point University, spent two seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach at Winthrop University from 1999-2001 as well as a season at Western Carolina University (1998-99).

Lampman is a 1996 graduate of Winthrop University where he received his bachelor of arts in education.  He followed up his baccalaureate degree with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Winthrop in 1999 after serving as a graduate assistant coach for three seasons.

During his coaching tenure, Lampman has served on the staffs of two conference coaches of the year and has been a part of coaching nearly 15 players to All-Conference, All-League or All-America honors.

"When I took the job here at WSSU, I wanted to really make an impact with who I hired to be on my staff.  I feel that I have definitely done that with Trevor.  Trevor has over eight years of Division I coaching experience which I knew was a must for this position.  He knows the State of North Carolina and has great contacts throughout the entire state and the Southeast, and he does a great job with the student-athletes.  I am confident that he will do a great job here at WSSU and that he is a valuable asset as we try to build a quality Division I basketball program."
