WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team released its 2009-10 schedule, Thursday. The team will face a tough slate of non-conference competition and full schedule of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes.
The Lady Rams will open their season on the road facing Liberty in a November 13th season opener and at Gardner Webb on November 16th. The team will then head to Morehead, Kentucky to take part on the Morehead State Invitational.
The Lady Rams will return home in more ways than one when the squad hosts the Furman Paladins on November 25th at the C.E. Gaines Center. After playing the bulk of their home games either at the LJVM Coliseum Annex or at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the last two seasons, the Lady Rams will return to the C.E. Gaines Center for all but one home game. After hosting the Paladins, the Lady Rams will play three straight home games, including hosting the South Carolina State in their first game against a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe.
The holiday season will feature an array of gifts for the team as they will head to Oxford, Mississippi to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on December 20th and will head to Buies Creek to take on the Campbell Camels on December 30th. The team will usher in the New Year on a high note when the team heads to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. The team will then remain on the road to take on the rival North Carolina Central Lady Eagles.
Following their match-up with the rival Lady Eagles, the Lady Rams will complete a full schedule of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference competition for the third straight season. The team will open with road games at Delaware State and at Maryland-Eastern Shore before returning home to home for a three-game home stand and facing the defending MEAC champion and local rival North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. After returning to the road for games at Florida A&M and at Bethune-Cookman, the Lady Rams will return for a pair of home games against the Howard Lady Bison and the Hampton Lady Pirates. Last season, the Lady Rams and Lady Bison had a classic match-up that saw WSSU's Rene Rector hit a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds of the game.

The home cooking won't last long for WSSU as the team will go on a four-game road streak, capped by February 22nd match-up with the rival North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies in the hostile Corbett Sports Center. The Lady Rams will close out home court with a pair of games against Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman on March 1st and 4th respectively. The team will close out the 2009-10 season in Orangeburg, S.C. where they will face the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs.
