WSSU Basketball Teams To Open Season Oct. 16 At "Ram Madness"

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics has announced that the Rams' annual "Meet the Rams" Men's and Women's Basketball Fan Fest and Media Day activities will be held at the C.E. Gaines Center at 8:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2009.

WSSU's head basketball coaches Bobby Collins and Dee Stokes will lead the men's and women's basketball teams as they officially begin the first practices of the season and participate in the fan-friendly activities of the 2009 WSSU "Meet the Rams" Men's and Women's Basketball Fan Fest and Media Day in an evening of fellowship with WSSU students, alumni, faculty and the Winston-Salem community.

WSSU's "Meet the Rams" Basketball Fan Fest is an opportunity for fans from the community and the Winston-Salem State University family to come out and meet the coaches and players from the men's and women's basketball teams as well as meet the WSSU Red and White Team cheerleaders and the Red Sea of Sound pep band. All are invited on Friday, October 16, from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m., to the C.E. Gaines Center on the campus of WSSU to celebrate the upcoming winter athletic seasons.

The event, free and open to the greater Winston-Salem community, will feature performances by the Red Sea of Sound Pep Band and the WSSU Red and White Team cheerleaders, Greek step team performances and a wing eating contest sponsored by Wing Zone and much more including prize giveaways. There will be plenty of fun and food at the event and the "Meet the Rams" Basketball Fan Fest will include a competitive three-point shooting contest.

WSSU student-athletes and coaches will be available for pictures and will conduct media interviews and appearances.
