WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Heading into the next chapter in the storied history of Winston-Salem State University women's basketball, the Lady Rams will feature a new look coaching staff as new head coach Stephen Joyner, Jr. rounded out the WSSU staff with the addition Leslie Rowls and Shenika Worthy as assistant coaches. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Stephen Joyner, Jr., one of the nation's finest young basketball coaches, has been named the head women's basketball coach at Winston-Salem State University as announced by WSSU Director of Athletics William "Bill" Hayes on Tuesday. Story.

WSSU Junior Forward Vontisha Woods Earns First Team All-Independent Honors

DURHAM, NC - Winston-Salem State junior forward Vontisha Woods earned first team honors on the NCAA Division I All-Independent team which was announced Wednesday afternoon. Woods was a one of the top performers on the team this season, nearly averaging a double-double for the season and leading the team in both scoring (9.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg). She was chosen as one of the top five players from the seven independent teams in the nation. The team was voted upon by both the independent head coaches and sports information directors. Story.
