WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams bowling team returned to action with some impressive performances on the opening day of the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division Meet. The team made their way through the icy conditions and chilly temperatures outside to secure some impressive victories at the event.
The day turned out to be an emotional rollercoaster for the Lady Rams who saw performance highs and lows on the opening day of the meet. The Lady Rams opened the day in style, taking a 726-563 win over Johnson C. Smith, but followed the effort with tough 802-800 loss to Saint Augustine's. From there, the Lady Rams bounced back in a big way with back-to-back wins over Shaw (735-704) and Livingstone (661-493). The day ended on a down note for the team with an 874-764 loss in the final match of the day.
WSSU sophomore Tyler Barringer led the way for the Lady Rams with a team-high 788 total pinfall for the day. Senior Janae McCaskey had the top individual effort of the day with a 226 against Fayetteville State.
