FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (37-16, 37-16 CIAA) bowling team had a rollercoaster of a day at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Meet, Friday, when the team posted a 3-2 record in team match play at the event. The Lady Rams followed each with a loss, but came out on top with a 3-2 record on the day.
The team took impressive wins over Shaw, Johnson C. Smith and Livingstone, but fell just short in matches against Saint Augustine's and top-seeded host Fayetteville State. The Lady Rams opened the day with a 757-613 win over Shaw, but took a 726-780 loss to Saint Augustine's. The team rebounded for a dominating 851-635 win over Johnson C. Smith, but took a 777-897 loss to Fayetteville State. The Lady Rams ended the day on a high note, however, with a 775-592 win over Livingstone.
WSSU sophomore Janae McCaskey led the way for the team with a team-high 846 pin total for the day with freshman Kia Edgerton close behind her with 857 total pins. McCaskey saved her best effort for last when she rolled a 187 in the team's win over Livingstone. Edgerton rolled a 191 against top-seeded Fayetteville State. Sophomore Tia Edgerton had the highest single game total for the Lady Rams with a 203 in the opening win over Shaw.
