FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (44-17, 44-17 CIAA) closed out the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Meet with a 4-1 effort in Baker games play, Sunday in Fayetteville, N.C. With the effort, the Lady Rams finish the weekend ranked third among the team in competition and secured a spot in the 2013 CIAA Championship Tournament.
The Lady Rams notched four key Baker games wins on the day with their only loss coming to the host Fayetteville State Lady Broncos. The opend the day with a 596-523 win over Livingstone, followed by their 790-708 loss to Fayetteville State. From there, the Lady Rams went on a roll with three straight wins. The team got things going with a 628-504 win over Johnson C. Smith, followed by a big 628-588 win over Saint Augustine's that avenged a pair of team match play losses and closed out the day with a 653-576 win over Shaw. With the team's win over Shaw, the Lady Rams secured a spot in the 2013 CIAA Championship Tournament.
The weekend closed out the regular season for the Lady Rams as the team will head to Durham, N.C. to take part in the 2013 CIAA Championship Tournament next weekend.
