DURHAM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (46-21) got off to a slow start on the opening day of the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship Tournament, Saturday. The third-seeded Lady Rams were able to get wins over Bowie State and Saint Augustine's, but struggled in losses to Elizabeth City State, Virginia Union, and Virginia State.
The team opened the day with an 816-870 loss to Elizabeth City State. The Lady Rams were able to bounce back with a 915-847 win over Bowie State. The effort marked one of the top scoring efforts of the season for the Lady Rams. The team followed the effort with losses to Virginia Union and Virginia State before bouncing back to close the day with a 769-759 win over Saint Augustine's. With the 4,064 total pins, the Lady Rams rank sixth at the tournament.
