DURHAM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (47-25) survived and advanced on the second day of the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowling Championship Tournament, Sunday. After posting a 2-3 record in Baker games play to earn a sixth-seed in the tournament, the Lady Rams held off the Shaw Lady Bears in an elimination game to reach the championship round of the tournament.
The Lady Rams opened the day with a 2-3 effort in Baker games play. The team struggled early with a pair of losses to Elizabeth City State and Bowie State. However, the team battled back for a pair of wins over Virginia Union and Virginia State, both teams that defeated the Lady Rams yesterday. The team finished Baker games play with 3,129 total pins.
After finishing the Baker games play and team match play with a 4-6 record, the team entered the round-robin play as the sixth-seed. The team opened with a 0-4 Baker games loss to Bowie State to drop to the loser's bracket of the tournament where they took a 4-1 win over the Shaw Lady Bears to advance to tomorrow's play.
The Lady Rams will take on the top-seeded Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons in an elimination game, tomorrow morning.
