NAGS HEAD, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (40-35, 31-19 CIAA) opened their final meet of the regular season with a strong effort when the team went 3-2 on the first day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) North/South Division Meet, Friday afternoon. The Lady Rams began the meet with some impressive performances taking three CIAA Southern Division wins.
The Lady Rams opened the day with a win over 751-629 win over Johnson C. Smith, but took a tough 870-719 loss to division leading Fayetteville State. The team bounced back for back-to-back wins over Livingstone (825-572) and Shaw (728-580). However, the team ended the day on a down note with a 682-642 loss to Saint Augustine's.
WSSU sophomore Kia Edgerton led the way for the Lady Rams with 874 total pins, including 190 pins in matches against Johnson C. Smith and against Shaw. Her twin sister Tia added 849 total pins for the day as well.
