Lady Rams Fight Hard, But Come Up Winless on Day Two at FAMU Invitational

Feb. 7, 2009

TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (11-54) came close, but couldn't pull out any wins in team match play on the second day of the Florida A&M Invitational. Games against some of the team's top rivals brought out the competitive spirit in the Lady Rams, but the team came up short in losses to North Carolina Central, Fayetteville State, North Carolina A&T, and Bethune-Cookman.

As a team, the Lady Rams totaled 3,578 pins, but were without an opponent for the final game of the day. The Lady Rams opened the day with a heartbreaking 802-839 loss to the rival North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies. The team struggled in a 647-852 loss to Fayetteville State as well as a 687-732 loss to North Carolina Central. The Lady Rams did finish the day strong in another close game, falling to Bethune-Cookman, 742-895.

WSSU's Ciera Swinney had the best effort of the day for the Lady Rams with an 824 total pinfall for the day. Allison White had the best single game performance with a 200 in the team's opener against North Carolina A&T.

The Lady Rams will return to action when they complete the tournament on the final day tomorrow. For more information on Lady Rams bowling, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2909 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
