SMYRNA, TN - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams gave some great efforts on the first day of the Columbia 300 Music City Invitational, but couldn't pull any wins out in their final meet of the season. Though the team went 0-6 for the day, the Lady Rams fought hard against a tough field of competition that included four of the top 20 teams in the nation.
The match of the day turned out to be the Lady Rams' battle with #12 Sacred Heart. The Lady Rams took the battle down the final frame and were edged out in the loss, 776-787. The Lady Rams also took tough losses to #5 Delaware State (664-861), St. Peter's (677-727), #17 Adelphi (638-905), #2 Fairleigh Dickinson (711-880), and MEAC Southern Division leaders Norfolk State (783-815).
WSSU junior Ciera Swinney had the best individual effort of the day with a team-high 916 total pins for the day. She brought out her best effort of the day against #2 Fairleigh Dickinson when she rolled a 189. All of the other Lady Ram bowlers topped 800 pins on the day as well.
