NCAA Championship
WSSU Head Coach Leon Kay
Coach, give your general thoughts on this championship if you can.
"We were delighted to be here, especially at the first inaugural tournament, and we know that we will be here next year and the following years to represent our school and our conference. The level of competition was extremely high and there were no illusions on our part as to what we had to do to compete against these teams. We knew that coming in, and I am proud of what our girls did this season and this weekend in making history not only at WSSU but NCAA history. These ladies should be very proud of themselves and their school."

Overall, what did you think of this experience. Did you enjoy your experience?
WSSU's Latoya DesChamps:
"The experience was great and it was great to be here. I think that we really accomplished something, and to be part of this is great. It feels good."
WSSU's LeAndrea Suggs:
"For this to be our third year it is great and I think that we did a great job this season. We had a goal, and that was to get here. We got here, and we can't stop there now. We have things to work on, and more things to accomplish."
WSSU's Head Coach Leon Kay:
"My goal was, to in five years, be here, and we came here in three. We got here ahead of schedule, and that was due to the hard work of these ladies and of the University and Athletic Department. I know what we have to do, and where we are, but we have work to do and will not be satisfied with the honor of just getting here. These young ladies did everything that I knew they needed to , and I couldn't have asked for more from them. I am very proud."

Stars and Strikes Magazine Staff Reporter:
What were your expectations coming here, and did it go according to plan?
WSSU's Leon Kay:
"Even though we didn't go the distance, the NCAA adopted the format that our conference uses, and so, that in itself let us know that we were prepared and that our conference is doing things right. We have more to prepare for, and as far as this tournament went, it would have been nice to win, but we know what to expect and what we have to expect from ourselves in the future."
