Lady Rams Finish Day One Of CIAA Western Division Bowling Challenge At 3-2

Winston-Salem, NC - Following the conclusion of day one of a three-day CIAA Western Division league bowling tournament at Creekside Lanes in Winston-Salem, NC, the Lady Rams are tied with North Carolina Central University and Livingstone College for second place overall with a day-one record of 3-2.  The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State sit in first place with a comfortable 5-0 record as the teams prepare for Saturday's second-round action.

 

The Lady Rams started the afternoon with a pair of losses to Livingstone College as the Lady Blue Bears swept WSSU by the scores of 712-704, and 701-654 as WSSU posted an 0-2 record to start the first day.


 

 

 

WSSU got right back on track in the next match as they defeated the Lady golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University in a pair of matches by the scores of 728-689 and 714-689 as Shannon Davis (Sr./Detroit, MI) led WSSU with a 172 in the first match and RaDonna Kirby (Jr./High Point, NC) paced WSSU with a 192 in the second match.  With the pair of wins, the Lady Rams evened their record to 2-2 overall on the day.

 

The final WSSU match of the day would see the Lady Rams defeat the Lady Falcons of Saint Augustine's College by the score of 780-603 as Lashonda Horton (Sr./Greenville, NC) led WSSU with a 196.

 

The Lady Rams would finish the day in a three-way tie with the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University and the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College as all three teams posted 3-2 records.

 

The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State closed out day-one in the overall lead as they posted an unblemished record of 5-0 en route to sweeping Johnson C. Smith (839-691, 811-716), Saint Augustine's College (790-563, 657-838), and North Carolina Central (827-631).

 

All six teams return to action on Saturday morning at 10:00 am as they begin day-two action with head-to-head bowling matches before beginning Baker Match play in the afternoon.
