Durham, NC - The second day of bowling competition at the 2004 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship at AMF Durham Lanes in Durham, NC started out with yet another Lady Ram victory, and ended with WSSU looking to be the favorite to capture the 2004 CIAA Women's Bowling Championship title as WSSU earned a berth in the title match.
WSSU started out the morning with a set of Baker Matches that was used to pair down the field of 12 to only eight. WSSU cruised in the matches, placing fourth overall and easily advancing to the afternoon's double-elimination rounds.
The Lady Rams cruised by Virginia Union 793-568 and then handed St. Paul's College a pair of Baker Match defeats en route to 26 points and 1397 total pins. WSSU sat behind Fayetteville State (#2 seed), Bowie State (#3 seed) and Shaw (#1 seed) yet looked to continue to dominate the competition.
That is exactly what WSSU did in the double elimination portion of the afternoon as they breezed by the competition. WSSU rolled past North Carolina Central in the first match before dispatching the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith in the afternoon's second match.
WSSU's final match of the afternoon saw the Lady Rams defeat #3 seed Bowie State and advance to the Championship match of the 2004 Women's Bowling Championship.
WSSU will await the winner of the Shaw/Fayetteville State match to see who the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State will play. Bowie State will have to defeat the winner of that match twice in order to stay alive. The winner of that match will face the Lady Rams and will have to defeat WSSU twice in order to steal the title from the Lady Rams.
Bowling action will start at 9:00 am at AMF Durham Lanes with WSSU taking to the lanes at approximately 10:30 am. WSSU is looking to capture their first CIAA bowling title.
