Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Office of Sports Information has announced that Brandon Hussey (So./5'10"/170/Pine Top, NC) and Latoya DesChamps (Gr./5'8"/Greensboro, NC) have been named the Crown Trophy - WSSU Student Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 28th, 2003.

Hussey, a Sophomore wide-receiver and kick returner on the Ram football team was one of the brightest stars in the Rams loss to Virginia Union on Saturday afternoon. He scored the Rams first points in the football game when he returned a Panther punt 55-yards untouched for a touchdown. He currently ranks second in the nation in kick return yards per kick with 26.4 yards per kick return.

Deschamps, a graduate student, and member of the WSSU Lady Rams bowling team is recognized for her stellar performance in the opening weekend of CIAA bowling competition. The 2002 All-CIAA bowling selection, who was also named 2002 CIAA Championship Tournament MVP led the Lady Rams to a 14-1 record in last weekend's three-day bowling event in Charlotte, NC. The Rams dropped only one match, to the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State, whom they also defeated three times.
