Lady Rams Cruise in 13-0 Win Over Shaw

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (20-16, 11-1 CIAA) put on a dominating performance in a 13-0 win over the Shaw Lady Bears (10-28, 4-9 CIAA), Thursday evening. The Lady Rams clicked on all cylinders to take home the win with 13 runs while holding the Lady Bears scoreless in the five-inning game.

WSSU junior pitcher Brittany Lane (6-4) had a stellar outing for the Lady Rams with just one walk away from throwing a perfect game. For the game, she held the Lady Bears to no hits and no errors, but she allowed one walk to break up the perfect outing.

Lady Rams freshman outfielder Francesca Edgerton led the offensive outing for the Lady Rams with two hits in three at-bats with a run scored and three RBI in the game. Sophomore designated player Andreya O'Brien added one hit in two at-bats with two runs scored and two RBI.

It was in the second inning that the Lady Rams took control of the contest with eight runs. The team added three third inning runs along with a pair of fourth inning runs to close out the effort.
