Lady Rams Break Out for 12-0 Win Over Saint Augustine's

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (23-14, 12-0 CIAA) didn't waste any time in a taking a 12-0 win over the Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons (14-8, 10-3 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rams took the win with dominant performances on both sides of the ball to take the win and secure first place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division.

As a team, the Lady Rams took advantage of Lady Falcons miscues to take the win as the team scored 12 runs on just five hits. The Lady Rams benefitted from eight walks, three SAU fielding errors, and four passed balls in the game. Of the 12 WSSU runs, only three were earned runs. WSSU senior pitcher Brittany Lane led the way at the plate with a two-for-two effort at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.

She also took the pitching win to improve to 13-7 for the season. She recorded six strikeouts in five innings and allowed just one hit and two walks.

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 12-0 in the CIAA and 6-0 in the CIAA Southern Division. The team would go on the close out the doubleheader against the Lady Falcons in game two.
