O'Brien drove in a pair of runs with a single through the left side that scored senior third base Nikki Lynch and sophomore catcher Bria Jones. Senior first base Britney Cato drove in the final WSSU run when the hit an RBI single up the middle that scored O'Brien. The effort left the Lady Rams ahead 4-1 after the first inning. The Lady Rams allowed a fifth-inning run to the Hawks, but held them off to take home the 4-2 victory.

The WSSU defense made sure that the four runs were enough to win as senior pitcher Brittany Lane (15-8) led the way for the team, pitching all seven innings with five hits allowed and just two runs. She also added three strikeouts.
