HUNTSVILLE, AL – After a successful playing career, former Winston-Salem State Rams softball player Mercedes Hargett will begin her coaching career as she was named as an assistant softball coach at Alabama A&M University. She will begin immediately with the Lady Bulldogs program, an NCAA Division I school.
Hargett will begin her coaching career after a tremendous playing career at Winston-Salem State. She completed her collegiate career with a pair of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships, ranked first in career home runs, and ranked third in total strikeouts. She also earned first team All-CIAA honors three times as well as being named to the CIAA All-Rookie team during her freshman season.
Alabama A&M is an NCAA Division I University that competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and is located in Huntsville, Alabama. She will work alongside former WSSU assistant softball coach Nakeya Hall.
