Hargett, Snipes Earn CIAA Weekly Softball Honors

CHARLOTTE, NC – It didn't take long for the honors to come in for the Winston-Salem State University softball program as WSSU junior pitcher Mercedes Hargett was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Pitcher of the Week while freshman shortstop Destiny Snipes was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week.[read more]

PEMBROKE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (0-2) had seven hits, but the team could not get the runners across the plate as the team took a 7-3 loss to the Concord Mountain Lions (2-0) at the Campbell Oil/Minuteman Invitational hosted by UNC-Pembroke. The Rams managed just three runs on seven hits while allowing seven Mountain Lion runs on nine hits in the game.[read more]

PEMBROKE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (0-1) softball team opened the 2016 season on a down not when the team took a 7-4 loss to Kutztown (2-1), Saturday afternoon in the Campbell Oil/Minuteman Invitational hosted by UNC-Pembroke. Rams Picked to Finish Second in CIAA Predictions

CHARLOTTE, NC – The expectations will be high once again for the Winston-Salem State University softball team as the Rams were picked to finish second in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Preseason Predicted Order of Finish. After reaching the semifinal round of the conference championship tournament last season, the Rams are expected to once again be among the top teams in the CIAA.[read more]

June 2, 2015Bartlett Named to 2015 NCCSIA All-State Softball TeamGREENSBORO, NC – Winston-Salem State third baseman Katrinia Bartlett added another honor to her resume, Tuesday afternoon when she was named to the 2015 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Team. She was one of twenty-four student-athletes representing 15 different North Carolina universities and colleges to earn that honor.
May 2, 2015Lady Rams Take 12-9 Loss to Chowan in 2015 CIAA Softball Semifinals ClassicRALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (23-22) left it on the field when the team took a hard-fought 12-9 loss to the top-seeded Chowan Hawks (24-13), Saturday evening at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex. Playing in their third game of the day, the Lady Rams and the Hawks both put on an offensive showdown in the game which included three grand slam home runs and 21 total runs.
May 2, 2015Lady Rams Hold Off Virginia Union for 4-1 Win in Consolation Bracket of 2015 CIAA Championship TournamentRALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (22-21) turned on their defense to keep their season alive when they took a hard-fought 4-1 win over the Virginia Union (15-10) Lady Panthers, Saturday morning. With the win, the Lady Rams stay alive in the consolation bracket of the 2015 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament, Saturday morning. The Lady Rams played well on both sides of the ball to take home the victory and kept their season going.
