2004: 2004 marked the second season that Carney was a member of the Lady Rams' softball team...Appeared in, and started all 30 games for WSSU at short stop...Was second on the team in batting average with an average of .389 as she recorded 37 hits in 95 at-bats with 11 walks...Tallied seven extra base hits on the season with two doubles, three triples and a pair of home runs (tied for the team lead in HR's)...Batted in 21 runs on the season, placing her second in RBI's on the team...Struck out only nine times in 95 at-bats and led the team in slugging percentage with a .537 average...Was caught stealing only once on the season, going nine for ten in stolen base attempts (.900)...Had 47 put-outs and 41 assists on the season while committing only six errors, for a fielding percentage of .936...Named WSSU Softball Co-MVP, sharing the honor with catcher Shannon Davis...18th in the CIAA in batting average with a .389...Sixth in the CIAA in runs scored with 32.
2003: Was Carney's first season with the Lady Rams...Appeared in 24 games for the Lady Rams, starting every appearance...Batted .358 on the year with 25 hits in 58 at bats...Scored 19 runs...Recorded five doubles and two triples while driving in 16 runs for a total of 35 total bases...Recorded a .515 slugging percentage...Walked 12 times and was hit by pitches twice with 9 strike outs...Posted a .476 on-base percentage and was four of five on stolen base attempts...Had 37 put-outs and 41 assists for a fielding percentage of .975 (second best on the team)...Awarded the 2003 Lady Ram Rookie of the Year Award.
Personal: The daughter of Dennis and Lisa Carney...Born in Greenville, NC on October 20th, 1980...Majoring in sociology with a minor in elementary education...Graduated from D.H. Conley High School in Greenville, NC in 1999...Will prove to be one of the most consistent all-around players on the Lady Ram's roster in 2004 as she is very athletic and can play many different infield positions...Nicknamed "Kelsha" or "Lil' Head".
