Heather Davis enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams Softball Team. Working primarily with the team's pitching staff, Davis has made a smooth transition from a top-notch player to a valued member of the coaching staff.

2004: The 2004 season marked the fourth consecutive year that Heather Davis has been a member of the Lady Rams' softball team...Was the Lady Rams' #1 starter in 2004 making 21 starting appearances and posting a 13-8 overall record...Recorded an earned run average of 6.05 as she pitched 20 complete games and recorded three shut-outs...Pitched 119.0 innings on the season allowing 125 hits and 106 runs, only 80 of them earned...Walked 47 batters and struck out 112 batters while facing 428 batsmen on the season...Allowed an opponent batting average of .262...Batted .304 at the plate in 22 games on the season...Recorded 17 hits in 56 at-bats with 12 walks and 12 strike-outs...Recorded five extra base hits, with three doubles and a pair of triples while batting in 14 runs...Went three for five in stolen base attempts in 2004...Recorded 18 put-outs and 20 assists with eight errors for a .826 fielding percentage...Named to the First-Team All-CIAA for the third time in four years...Named WSSU's Mary Garber Female Student-Athlete of the Year...12th in the CIAA in league earned runs with 6.45...1st in the CIAA in shut-outs with three...2nd in the CIAA in strike-outs with 96 and first in strike outs looking with 29...Led the CIAA in league wins with 13...Named to the CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic First-Team.

Personal: The daughter of Wanzie and Margaret Davis...Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 21st, 1981...Sister Shannon is the catcher on the WSSU Softball team and member of the Lady Rams' bowling team...Majoring in business administration with a concentration in management...Graduated from Phillips Academy (Andover, MA) in 2000...Also plays third base...Easily the Rams most consistent pitcher, and will be looked to to try to help the Lady Rams return to the championship status of the past...Currently posesses a 3.8 grade point average...Member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)and serves as the Vice-President...Serves on the WSSU Scholarship Loan Committee...A Who's Who member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Delta Sigma Theta and the WSSU Honors Program...Played tennis and volleyball as well as softball in high school...Won the Detroit City Championship in high school every year that she pitched and was ranked third in the state.
