Heather Davis enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams Softball Team. Working primarily with the team's pitching staff, Davis has made a smooth transition from a top-notch player to a valued member of the coaching staff.

2003: Appeared in 20 games for the Lady Rams, starting 19...Hit .255 with 13 hits in 51 at-bats...Scored six runs...Tallied 32 walks...Recorded three doubles and a lone triple while batting in 13 runs...Recorded 18 total bases...Turned in a .353 slugging percentage...Hit by pitches four times with 11 strike outs...Was two for two in stolen base attempts...Tallied 12 put-outs and 25 assists while committing only three errors for a .925 fielding percentage...Posted an 11-4 record in 2003 with an ERA of 4.56...Pitched 100.2 innings giving up 115 hits and 61 runs only 51 of them being earned...Appeared in 16 games starting 15 and throwing 15 complete games while posting four shut-outs...walked only 22 batters while striking out 104.

2002: Appeared in, and started 25 games for the Lady Rams in 2002, garnering First-Team All-CIAA Honors...Registered 17 hits in 72 at-bats, turning in a .236 batting average...Had six doubles, and a triple while batting in 20 runs...Had a slugging percentage of .347...walked 13 times, and struck out only five times...Committed only eight errors on the season...Had an overall record of 9-7 with an ERA of 2.61...Pitched complete games in 14 of the 16 contests she appeared in...Pitched 99.1 innings, allowing only 94 hits...Gave up 57 runs, only 37 of them earned...Recorded 93 strikeouts and walked only 39 batters...Named the Lady Rams Most Valuable Player for the second straight season...Winner of the Athletic Director's Cup (Highest GPA).

2001: All-CIAA First Team in softball...Named CIAA Rookie of the Year...Named the Lady Rams Most Valuable Player...Named to the CIAA Championship All-Tournament Team...Winner of the Athletic Director's Cup (Highest GPA)...Made 16 appearances on the mound, posting a 10-3 record and a 2.97 earned run average in 14 complete games en route to pitching six shut-outs...Ranked 4th in the CIAA in ERA, despite being a freshman...Earned one save in 88.0 innings pitced...Allowed 79 hits while striking out 102 batters and walking only 23...Gave up only 40 runs, 29 of them being earned...Gave up only 14 extra-base hits (11 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs) as she faced 361 opponent batters...Ranked 16th in the CIAA in batting average with a .415 in 24 games...Recorded 22 hits in 53 at-bats with 10 walks and five strike-outs...Recorded nine extra-base hits with five triples, two doubles and a pair of home runs, en route to 24 runs batted in and 16 runs scored...Was caught stealing only once in six attempts (.833).

Personal: The daughter of Wanzie and Margaret Davis...Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 21st, 1981...Sister Shannon is the catcher on the WSSU Softball team and member of the Lady Rams' bowling team...Majoring in business administration with a concentration in management...Graduated from Phillips Academy (Andover, MA) in 2000...Also plays third base...Easily the Rams most consistent pitcher, and will be looked to to try to help the Lady Rams return to the championship status of the past...Currently posesses a 3.8 grade point average...Member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)and serves as the Vice-President...Serves on the WSSU Scholarship Loan Committee...A Who's Who member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Delta Sigma Theta and the WSSU Honors Program...Played tennis and volleyball as well as softball in high school...Won the Detroit City Championship in high school every year that she pitched and was ranked third in the state.
