Orangeburg, SC - The Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University had another rough outing on the diamond on Saturday morning as they dropped their third straight game of the season, falling to Albany State University by the score of 19-3 in the third game of the 2005 Claflin College Softball Invitational in Orangeburg, SC.
Trying to get their first win of the season after falling in defeat in the first two games of the year by losing a 22-0 decision to Savannah College of Art and Design and then falling 19-0 to Armstrong Atlantic, the Lady Rams again used the tandem pitching efforts of SaRhonda Hawkins and Shannon Davis versus Albany State.
However, those efforts would put together the same result as it would once again be walks and errors that would once again lead to defeat for WSSU as Albany State put 19 runs on the scoreboard en route to a 19-3 win.
SaRhonda Hawkins earned her third loss of the season in her third outing of 2005. She would be replaced by Shannon Davis in the second inning as Davis earned her third relief appearance in two days.
With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-3 on the season and will return to action at 12:00 PM on Saturday as they face Benedict in another non-conference softball match-up.
