Lady Rams Hitless at Western Carolina - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (1-6) went hitless in their only action, Wednesday afternoon as the team took a 9-0 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts (1-5). The loss was the team's first no-hit performance of the season.

Though the WSSU offense struggled for much of the contest, the team's defense kept the game close until a five-run Catamount run in the fourth inning put the game our of the Lady Rams' reach. Sophomore pitcher Amber Shore (1-3) took the loss pitching 4.2 innings and allowing eight hits. Eight of the nine Western Carolina runs were earned in the loss.

Game two of the double-header was cancelled due to rain and lightning. With only three innings completed when the game was cancelled there was not enough action to count as an official game.

The Lady Rams will return to action at home, Saturday when they take on the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in a double-header beginning at 1:00 p.m.
