Final Stats

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-3) had their biggest offensive outing since making the move to NCAA Division I defeating the St. Paul's Lady Tigers (0-2), 17-0 in game one of a Friday doubleheader. The Lady Rams pounded out 11 runs and took advantage of eight Lady Tiger errors, scoring seven unearned runs in the game.

The 17-run outing marked the most runs scored by the Lady Rams since the 2006 season when the team defeated Virginia Union, 17-0.

Eight of the nine WSSU batters recorded hits in the game with sophomore infielder Whitney Hall leading the way with two hits in three at-bats with a pair of RBI in the game. Three Lady Ram newcomers recorded home runs in the game as junior Whitney Wright, freshman Bonika Terry, and freshman Kayla Woodbury all took trips around the bases in the win.

WSSU junior pitcher Amber Shore (1-1) dominated in the circle to lead the Lady Rams to the win. She allowed just one St. Paul's hit, a lead-off single by Jalisa Parr. After that, Shore shut the Lady Tigers down with nine strikeouts and no walks.

The two teams would meet in game two of the doubleheader later in the day.
