Lady Rams Suffer 12-0 Loss at Campbell

Feb. 26, 2008

Box Score

BUIES CREEK, NC - The hits were hard to come by for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (5-4), Wednesday when the team took a 12-0 loss to the Campbell Camels (10-3). The usually potent Lady Rams struggled mightily in the loss totaling just three hits in the loss.

The Lady Rams got into scoring position just twice in the game. WSSU freshman outfielder Candace Spinks gave the team its first real chance to score, reaching third base following a single and a pair of Campbell second inning errors.  A ground out by WSSU infielder Leslie Hollis ended the inning for the Lady Rams. WSSU freshman infielder Kayla Woodbury singled in the fourth inning and stole second base to give the team its second scoring threat of the day. However, another WSSU groundout ended the threat.

The Lady Rams gave up runs in all four innings of defense, including allowing a combined eight Cambell runs in the third and fourth innings to seal the loss.

Spinks and Woodbury were joined by a single by Whitney Wright for the only WSSU hits of the day. The two teams lined up for the second game of the doubleheader later in the day.
