Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team fell to 2-2 on the season on Wednesday afternoon when Lees-McRae handed them a 4-1 defeat in game one of a two-game softball doubleheader at Southpark field.
The first game of two, which took two hours and three minutes to complete, was delayed two hours while maintenance crews worked feverishly to ready the field of play after severe precipitation on Monday afternoon made playing conditions less that favorable.
When the game did start, at 3:00 pm, the Lady Rams got off to a slow start as Lees-McRae scored a pair of runs in the second and sixth innings and WSSU was able to get their lone run of the game in the fifth inning.
Starting pitcher Heather Davis (Sr./5'11"/Detroit, MI) gave up four runs on nine hits while the Lady Rams committed a pair of errors over seven innings of play. With the loss, Davis drops to 2-2 overall and the Lady Rams fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Lady Rams return to action in the second game of the doubleheader at 5:30 pm.
