SAVANNAH, GA - The good news for the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team is that the 2006 Smash Hit Softball Tournament is now over. The bad news is that WSSU did not win a game in the four-game, two-day tournament as Roanoke College ended WSSU's participation on Wednesday afternoon, handing the Lady Rams an 11-0 loss in final-round softball action.
With the loss, WSSU falls to 2-9 overall while Lady Ram pitcher Elyon Taylor falls to 1-4 on the season. Taylor only pitched three and two-thirds innings before being replaced by Amber Shore in the bottom of the fourth inning. Despite recording only 11 outs, she was saddled with the loss.
WSSU returns to action on Saturday, March 11, 2006 versus Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC as the Lady Rams begin conference play. The first game of the pair of contests is slated for 11:00 AM with the second game of the twin bill taking place 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
